My ethnicity is Chaldean and also speak it as a second language I also speak Arabic, at home I communicate with my family members by speaking Chaldean. I am currently a Pre-K 4 teacher at Our Lady of Refuge and have been here for two years now.  I've always wanted to be a second grade teacher and never thought I'd be able to be a Pre-School teacher, but I sure have fell in love with teaching Pre-K  my student surely make it so easy to fall in love with I wouldn't  change it for the world!! I look forward in getting to know and meeting all my new classmates; I hope everyone had a wonderful New Years and Good Luck in the new semester!!

  1. It's good to meet you Vanessa. I can feel the love you have for the preschoolers when I read this and just had to snicker. There is truly "someone for everyone". Although I love the smaller ones OUTSIDE of the classroom, I could HARDLY take them IN the classroom. I teach 6-12 and have felt at home since, my very first day with my students. Can't take this "itty bitties" tho. They were too much for me!

  3. Hello Vanessa, I also majored in social studies and often wonder if I should have minored in early childhood ed. I love working with the little ones too. My youngest students are in kindergarten but I only see each kindergarten once per week. I just love their enthusiasm.

    1. When I first started I was very nervous but it ended up being amazing and am so happy with my decision. If you ever decided to make the switch you will not regret it, sometimes I go into work feeling sad and the second my students walk in it's an instant smile.

  6. I'll third that (although I moved from high school to undergrad and graduate students, and I still have mixed feelings about the 'age group').

    1. Thank You!! Thats amazing that you have made such an jump in grade levels that you have taught. I feel like that would be so difficult to do and I would be so lost into where to even begin. Although, I am glad you made the switch to the graduate program because I've learned a lot from you last semester and already include the different strategies into my classroom.
